HOLY WEEK & EASTER IN BILLERICAY

From crucifixion

Palm Sunday (14th April) is the start of the most important 8-day period in our Christian calendar. Churches of the town have their programmes of services, but Churches Together in Billericay sponsors further events that reach across the denominations:

Saturday 13th April

This is Palm Sunday eve, called Lazarus Saturday by some churches.

Members of Queens Park Community Church will sing through the Easter story near to the Co-op store from 11.00am.

Afterwards they will offer an open invitation to refreshments at their nearby church.

Good Friday

At 11.00am, a walk of witness through the town will set off from Emmanuel Church in Laindon Road, terminating at Most Holy Redeemer Church.

People of Billericay Baptist Church will distribute Hot Cross Bun vouchers in High Street from 12noon.

Emmanuel and Queens Park Community churches will present live feeds from the Wintershall Passion Play in Trafalgar Square at 3.00pm. See details of the play here.

Easter Sunday

To resurrection

An open air celebration with Holy Communion, at Home Meadows at 6.30am will mark the beginning of Easter Day. Afterwards at 7.30am, a hot breakfast will be served at Western Road Methodist Church.
